Excavating Services for Residential and Commercial Projects

Precision Drilling and Heavy Equipment Operating

We offer Precision Specialty Rock Drilling and Excavation Services with

Marini MA100 Hydro-Pneumatic Drill + Takeuchi TB260 (Tiltrotator & Grapple)

Why this combo works:

  • Drill head built for geotech: The Marini MA100 series is designed for consolidation work such as self-drilling anchors, rock nailing, and cementitious grout injection, with air or water flushing through its integrated head—exactly what you need for rock bolts, soil nails, and structural anchors.
  • Capable carrier: The TB260 provides robust primary/secondary auxiliary hydraulic circuits and high system pressure/flow, making it an excellent attachment platform for drilling masts and tooling. (Primary aux ~27 gpm, secondary ~11.6 gpm, system pressure ~3,480 psi.)
  • Tiltrotator precision: Our tiltrotator lets us set the mast at the exact angle and orientation for consistent hole trajectories on faces, abutments, and steep terrain—reducing setup time and improving bolt geometry and grout encapsulation (critical for engineered designs).
  • Onboard grapple: Fast handling of casing, drill steel, SDR bars, mesh, and mats streamlines production and site safety.

What We Do:

1) Foundation Drilling & Micropiles

We pre-drill and install micropiles, helical/ground screw foundations, and DTH rock sockets for additions, boardwalks, solar, light industrial pads, and retrofit underpinning. Modern excavator-mounted masts are designed for pre-drilling in hard rock and foundation/micropile work, with options for auger, DTH, and water/air/grout injection drilling setups to match geology.

Typical tasks

  • Rock sockets and stub piles
  • Tie-back ready pre-drill holes
  • Solar/boardwalk foundations in thin overburden over bedrock

2) Geotechnical Reinforcement: Rock Bolting & Soil Nailing

Using self-drilling hollow bars (SDA) or conventional bars, we drill, flush, and grout through the head in one controlled operation—ideal for fractured rock and limited access slopes. The MA100 platform is optimized for anchors, nails, and reinforcement, enabling precise bar placement and cementitious injections for durable bond.

Typical tasks

  • Rockfall mitigation and face stabilization
  • Shotcrete ready nail patterns
  • Abutment and cut-slope reinforcement

3) Structural Anchors & Tie-Backs

We install temporary and permanent anchors to stabilize walls, foundations, and retaining structures. Industry-standard excavator feed systems offer a versatile platform for anchor drilling in difficult geometry without bringing in a full-size drill rig—perfect for backyards, laneways, and tight right-of-ways.

4) Precision Hardscaping in Bedrock

For high-end landscapes that interface with rock, we pre-drill pinning holes for stairs, slab anchors, and boulder placements; set rock dowels for walls; and prepare drainage relief holes behind retaining features. Versatile excavator drill attachments are built exactly for this blend of earth retention and rock drilling work.

5) Controlled Rock Breaking with Expanding Grout (Non-Explosive)

When blasting isn’t feasible, we drill patterns and apply expanding grout (a non-explosive demolition agent) to crack and split rock or reinforced concrete safely and quietly—ideal for urban sites, utilities, and sensitive environments.

6) Slope & Barrier Works

Drilling for rockfall mesh, barriers, and posts, including pinning and anchor points on steep terrain. Marini’s compact drilling solutions are widely used for slopes, anchors, soil nails, and rock protection, which aligns with the Island’s coastal topography.

How We Deliver Precision

  • Exact mast positioning: Tilt, rotate, and reach around obstacles to drill at design azimuth and inclination—consistent hole alignment improves capacity and QA/QC results.
  • Clean holes, better bonds: Air/water flushing through the drill head maintains hole quality; on-head grout injection improves encapsulation with SDAs.
  • Tight-access specialists: Compact excavator footprint and long-stick reach mean less hand drilling and minimal temporary works.
  • Integrated handling: The grapple speeds safe handling of cages, mesh, casing, and hollow bars—boosting productivity and site tidiness.
  • Attachment-ready hydraulics: The TB260’s dual auxiliary circuits and high pressure/flow support drifters, DTH hammers, and rotary heads without starving other functions.

Typical Project Types

  • Custom home foundations and additions on bedrock
  • Driveway and utility crossings through rock
  • Retaining walls, tie-backs, and façade stabilization
  • Trail/boardwalk foundations and shoreline works
  • Slope stabilization above roads and residences
  • Precision hardscape pinning (stairs, slabs, feature boulders)
  • Non-explosive rock reduction for tight urban sites

Safety, Quality and Environmental Care

  • Low-vibration options and use of non explosive demolition grouting  in combination with controlled drilling sequences protect nearby structures and minimize damage due to  excessive vibration.
  • Non-explosive methods reduce noise, flyrock risk, and permitting complexity.
  • Grout logs, torque/pressure records, and pull-test support upon request.
  • “Our commitment to sustainability includes the use of eco-sensitive hydraulic oils that protect sensitive ecosystems.
  • Optional deployment of HDPE ground matting for safeguarding sensitive terrain, minimizing site disturbance, and  lessening adverse environmental impact”

Forestry Mulching

Safeguard Your Property and Community with Forestry Mulching

Across Vancouver Island, the threat of wildfires grows every year. Dense underbrush, ladder fuels, and unmanaged vegetation create pathways for fire to climb into the canopy—placing rural properties, critical infrastructure, and entire communities at risk. At Hyperion Technical Contracting, we specialize in forestry mulching solutions that not only reduce wildfire danger but also deliver long-term environmental and economic benefits.

Why Reducing Ladder Fuels Matters

Ladder fuels—brush, shrubs, and low-hanging branches—are the stepping stones that allow a ground fire to climb into trees, where it becomes far more destructive and difficult to control. By removing these fuels, we create defensible space around homes, rural properties, and rights-of-way, giving fire crews a critical edge in protecting lives and assets.

The Power of Forestry Mulching

A mulcher is a specialized attachment mounted to small and mid-sized excavators that can quickly shred brush, saplings, and undergrowth into a protective layer of mulch. Unlike traditional land clearing, mulching leaves the soil undisturbed while converting hazardous vegetation into a beneficial ground cover.

With Hyperion’s equipment, we can access tight areas on rural residential properties, as well as efficiently clear long stretches of hydro, pipeline, and telecom corridors, reducing vegetation management costs and downtime.

Environmental and Economic Advantages

  • Faster, More Efficient Clearing
Our mulching attachments allow us to clear vegetation in a single pass—reducing transportation times, fuel usage, and operational costs compared to traditional cut-and-haul methods.
  • Lower Emissions, Lower Costs
Fewer equipment trips mean reduced fuel consumption and lower greenhouse gas emissions, aligning with the sustainability goals of both property owners and infrastructure companies.
  • Soil Health & Carbon Sequestration
Mulched material breaks down naturally, enhancing soil structure and contributing to carbon sequestration—locking carbon into the soil instead of releasing it into the atmosphere.
  • Moisture Retention & Erosion Control
Mulch acts as a natural barrier, retaining soil moisture, reducing erosion, and improving overall land resilience—particularly important in dry summers on Vancouver Island.
  • Mycelium Growth & Ecosystem Support
Mulch provides a rich substrate for mycelium networks, improving soil biology and long-term forest health.
  • Reduced Nuisance Vegetation
By shredding unwanted growth into fine mulch, regrowth is slowed, lowering the frequency of maintenance and keeping costs predictable.
